Media Coverage: Rosenberg Forum on Mackenzie Basin
Published:
September 7, 2012
Presented by the Walter and Duncan Gordon Foundation and Simon Fraser University's Adaptation to Climate Change Team (ACT), the prestigious Rosenberg International Forum on Water Policy convened in Vancouver, BC from Sept. 5 to 7, 2012 to discuss the national and global importance of the Mackenzie Basin and what can be done to protect it going forward. The Forum’s goals included identifying legal and scientific principles relevant to the processes leading to a coordinated basin-wide approach to management, as well as recognizing knowledge gaps.
Forum participants included renowned Canadian and international water experts and welcomed the Honourable Bob McLeod, Premier of the Northwest Territories, and The Honourable Michael Miltenberger, Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources to provide presentations. Representatives from other jurisdictions were invited but declined.
The Forum attracted international media attention, shining the spotlight on a watershed which encompasses 20 percent of our country but isn’t well-known to many Canadians.
